Those who ascend further by consuming flesh and power may become Abyssal Ones. The Organization's leadership knows this process is inevitable for many warriors, driving them to conduct increasingly unethical experiments in the North and elsewhere to create weapons capable of surviving these encounters. Their goal is not to prevent a singular 'end times' prophecy, but to manage the constant threat posed by Abyssal Ones who seek to devour humanity. The assignment of the #1 rank to the strongest warrior of each generation—sometimes resulting from special experiments like those involving Teresa or Priscilla—is a reactive measure to counter the most dangerous threats, rather than the result of a singular 'Number 1' creation project.
